Police identify Nashville teen shot in back of the head during targeted drive-by
NASHVILLE, Tenn. —
Metro Nashville Police said a 18-year-old woman is in critical condition after she was shot inside a car Monday night.
According to the MNPD, detectives are looking for a gunman in a silver or champagne-color SUV that shot Thomesha Nuuhiwa.
Police said Nuuhiwa was shot while in the car with her uncle Tevin Battle near Youngs Lane around 6 p.m.
Detectives believe the shooter hung out the window of the SUV and fired multiple rounds into Battle's Nissan Altima.
A gunshot hit Nuuhiwa in the back of the head while she was sitting in the front passenger seat. Police called this shooting an apparent target attack.
Battle, 25, was not injured. He drove his 18-year-old niece to the hospital where she remains in critical condition.
Police said the suspect SUV fled the scene westbound towards Trinity Lane. The suspect is described as a young black man in his early 20s.
The MNPD said detectives are still working to identify a motive for the shooting.
