Police: Mt. Juliet pizza deliveryman dies after being shot on-the-job in Nashville

A 40-year-old pizza deliveryman is fighting for his life after he was shot in the head early Friday morning.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, Doniyor Abdumadjidov was shot on the way to a delivery in the 2700 block of Batavia Street.

As of Friday afternoon, Abdumadjidov is in critical, life-threatening condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Officers said he was involved in some type of confrontation and shot in the head. A witness told police they pulled up to the location and found the delivery driver laying in a pool of blood.

The person who lives at the address for the pizza delivery had not placed an order for pizza.

Witnesses said a black SUV was seen leaving the area around the time of the shooting, but suspect information is very limited.
