Police: Man Steals Motorcycle From Hooters Parking Lot, Crashes It During Getaway
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) —
UPDATE: Clarksville Police said a man stole a motorcycle from a Hooters parking lot and crashed it during his getaway.
Police said Aelix Santiago, 28, of Antioch struck a 2005 Kia driven by Alicia Bamman, 21 of Clarksville about 6 p.m. Thursday night.
The crash happened at the intersection of Peachers Mill Road and Taft Avenue. Witnesses said Santiago was continuously traveling in the left turn lane and passing other vehicles. That's when witnesses told police the the motorcycle went into the southbound oncoming travel lane and stuck the Kia.
Santiago was ejected from the motorcycle. He was taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious injuries.
During the investigation, police found that Santiago had stolen the motorcycle from a Hooters parking lot along Riverside Drive prior to the crash.
Warrants have been secured for theft of a motor vehicle, reckless driving, simple possession and not wearing a motorcycle helmet where secured.
Clarksville Police said a driver was airlifted to the hospital after crashing a stolen motorcycle.
It happened about 7:15 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Peachers Mill Rd and Taft Dr.
The driver was taken to Nashville by LifeFlight with serious injuries. Police said he was driving a stolen motorcycle.
