Pedestrian struck, killed by train in Murfreesboro identified

UUPDATE: A man hit and killed by a train in Murfreesboro has been identified.

According to a police report, Richard Herman was struck by a CSX train and killed on June 16.

CSX officials said Happened before 7 p.m. at the intersection of Scott St. and Dashiel St. This is not a railroad crossing.

The police report said a bicycle and backpack were found in the area.

The CSX conductor gave police a statement and CSX officials said they were cooperating with police in their investigation.

The train was carrying freight from Hamlet, N.C. to Evansville, IN

CSX is cooperating with MPD in their investigation.
