North Nashville neighbors mourn couple killed in weekend murder-suicide
NASHVILLE, Tenn. —
North Nashville neighbors grieved during a candlelight vigil on Tuesday night for couple who died in murder suicide.
Those who knew 50-year old Virgil Taylor and his longtime girlfriend Latasha Booker are still in shock over the way their love and their lives ended.
"This is bad, tragic that it happened to her," said Sharonda Booker, Latasha’s sister. "She was the best thing in this earth. Sshe took care of me most of my life, and I love my sister and I miss her."
On Sunday night, Metro Nashville Police found the couple dead in the living room of their home. A relative said they had a fight earlier in the day.
Police said both Taylor and Booker died of gunshot wounds, and officers found the gun next to Taylor.
Booker's sister said their relationship had been abusive for years.
“He’s a jealous type person," Sharonda Booker said. "He always didn’t like her family. He always wanted her to isolate from her family."
“Favorite uncle, no matter what he was always there for everybody,” Nicole Washington, Virgil Taylor's niece said. "I look at her as my auntie. They been together for 24 years .That’s a long time, lot of history together."
Virgil Taylor and Latasha Booker will be laid to rest this week.
