Nearly 10,000 barrels of bourbon fall from Kentucky distillery
BARDSTOWN, KY.--A distillery in Kentucky lost thousands of barrels of bourbon on Friday due to a partial building collapse.
Bardstown Fire Chief Billy Mattingly says the collapse took place at the Barton 1792 Distillery. The distillery holds 20,000 barrels of bourbon and it is believed close to 10,000 of the barrels were affected in the collapse.
Mattingly says the owners knew there were some structural issues and had crews working on the structure. Thankfully, nobody was on scene at the time of the collapse and no injuries were reported.
The building which houses the distillery was built in the 1940s.
