Nashville one-year-old suffers gunshot wound to face
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Metro Nashville Police are on the scene of an apartment at James Cayce Homes where a one-year-old child suffered a gunshot wound to the face.
Police say the father contacted dispatchers while rushing his child to the hospital and his car's tire went flat. The Nashville Fire Department responded to 100 West Trinity Lane and rushed the child to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The father told police he had given the child a bath and placed the boy on the bed. The father also had a handgun on the bed. The father left the room and heard a gunshot. Thankfully, the boy's injury is considered non-life threatening and it is being described as a graze.
Neighbors say the they hope police look into the dad and realize he is a good man.
Police also responded to the apartment and were denied entry to home by the man's wife. Police are working to obtain a search warrant to enter the home and Child Protective Services is also on scene.
