Nashville man struck in head with machete after being asked for cigarette
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Metro Nashville Police say a man being asked for a cigarette became the victim of a machete attack.
According to the arrest affidavit for 24-year-old Dreshawn Pillar, police were called on Friday by the victim after Pillar allegedly tried to rob him. The victim told police he was sitting on the corner with two friends drinking beer when Pillar approached him and asked for a cigarette.
The man says he refused Pillar but was continually asked by Pillar so he finally gave him one to "leave him alone." When the man gave him a cigarette, Pillar refused and stated "I want the whole pack and everything in your pockets," the affidavit states.
The victim says he refused to give him anything at which point Pillar pulled a machete from his pants and struck the man in the head twice with the side of the machete blade. The man says before Pillar could take anything from him, Pillar heard sirens in the distance and fled on foot. The victim suffered a non life threatening laceration to his head and was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center's Emergency Room.
Police interviewed Pillar who admitted to the incident as stated by the victim. Pillar was arrested and booked on a charge of especially aggravated robbery.
