UPDATE: (8:15 p.m.)

Mt. Juliet Police say an armed robbery of a pizza delivery driver on Monday is believed to be connected to other recent area robberies.

Police said the gunman fled in a small black midsize SUV after demanding money from the victim in the Hickory Hills subdivision.

Police said Monday's incident appeared to be a "crime of opportunity," and said the gunman, who's believed to be a teenager traveling with other teens, came into the area by vehicle and fled by vehicle.

Lt. Tyler Chandler said the recent robberies are "very uncharacteristic" for the area. Chandler said the department believes this armed robbery is connected to an armed robbery in a Publix parking lot on Sunday.

Chandler did say Monday's armed robbery is not believed to be connected to an incident over the weekend where crews searched for an alleged gunman in woods near the subdivision. No gunman was found.

Meanwhile, police also responded to reports of shots fired around the same time that the pizza delivery driver was robbed, but don't believe the two reports are related. Chandler said there are nearby woods that people are known to hunt in.

The pizza delivery driver was robbed of money and a wallet, police said.

Chandler said the suspects are described as "violent" teenagers committing violent crimes.

Police said in both robberies the suspects were described as black male teens wearing sweatshirts with the hoods pulled up.

Anyone with information about any of the crimes listed above should call police at (615) 754-TIPS (8477). MJPD is offering a $1000 reward for information leading to arrest.
