Motorcyclist passing traffic in bike lane hits truck, dies
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A motorcyclist is killed in a Donelson crash.
The crash occurred on Bell Road where it turns into Stewarts Ferry Pike just before 1 p.m. on Saturday. The motorcyclist died at the scene after being ejected from the Kawasaki bike and pinned under the pickup truck, according to police.
The speeding motorcyclist was passing traffic in the bicycle lane and hit the side of a truck, which was making a legal u-turn, say police. The motorcyclist is believed to be a 23-year-old man from Hermitage, but he has not been positively identified because he was not carrying identification.
No charges are expected to be filed against the driver who was uninjured.
This is at least the 84th death involving a motorcyclist in the state this year, following a deadly motorcycle crash in Montgomery County last night.
