Metro Police say improper passing lead to crash that killed 85-year-old
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) —
Metro Police said it appears improper passing lead to a crash that killed an 85-year-old.
Wallace Holeman of Nashville was killed in the two-vehicle crash on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said it happened on River Road Pike near Old River Road. They said a 42-year-old was traveling eastbound when he tried to pass Holeman's vehicle traveling westbound. When the driver saw an on-coming vehicle, he told police he tried to swerve, but ended up striking Holeman's vehicle, which then traveled off the road and hit a tree. Holeman died at the scene.
Police said there were no signs of alcohol or drug use in the investigation, but it does appear the 42-year-old driver improperly passed Holeman's vehicle. The District Attorney's Office will determine whether charges will be filed.
