Maury Co. Public Schools releases kidnapping suspect's personnel file

Tad Cummins. (Tennessee Bureau of Investigations)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) - Maury County Public Schools released the personnel file of Tad Cummins, who is accused of kidnapping his former student, prompting an AMBER Alert.

Elizabeth Thomas, 15, is believed to be traveling with 50-year-old Cummins. He is believed to be armed with two handguns and driving a silver Nissan Rogue with Tennessee license plate 976-ZPT.

TBI placed Cummins on its Top 10 Most Wanted List last week. Cummins faces possible charges of aggravated kidnapping and sexual contact with a minor.

The personnel file includes documents detailing Cummins hiring process, suspension, and termination for his inappropriate behavior with Thomas.

TBI said the investigation revealed a "troubling" pattern of behavior by Cummins. Agents said he may have been abusing his role as a teacher to "groom this vulnerable young girl for some time in an effort to lure and potentially sexually exploit her."
