Marker dedicated for anniversary of Nashville's Civil War surrender

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A marker dedication took place on Feb. 25 to commemorate the 155th anniversary of the surrender of the city of Nashville to Union troops during the Civil War.

"Rediscover East" dedicated the marker with help of the members of the Ohio Volunteer Calvary Descendents Association, whose ancestors were part of the surrender. They say the original surrender location had been forgotten until recently and after some research, they confirmed that the surrender happened right in the Edgefield community, rather than in the heart of Nashville.
