Manhunt under way after assault on officer in Millersville, neighbors asked to lock doors

A manhunt is under way in Millersville after police dispatchers said a man assaulted a police officer Monday morning.

The suspect, Terrell Stevenson, 27, is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Police said the assault happened during a traffic stop about 8:45 a.m. Officer Brian Elston pulled the vehicle over and at some point during the traffic stop, Stevenson assaulted the officer. Stevenson fled on foot.

Police said a woman in the back of the vehicle Steveson was in has been detained. The suspect's vehicle has also been impounded.

Crews are searching the area of the Millersville Police Department to I-65 as of 11:10 a.m.

Stevenson has several warrants for his arrest out of Metro. He's described as a black man standing about 6 feet tall and weighs about 206 pounds.

Neighbors are being asked to stay inside and lock their door while the search is underway.

Police dispatchers said the suspect could also be in the area of Goodlettsville or Madison.

Crews from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Sumner, Robertson and White House are assisting. Anyone who sees this suspect should call 911 immediately.
