Man shoots ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend in Hermitage

(Metro Police)

A love triangle went south and sent a man to the hospital after police said someone shot him in the leg.

It happened in the Hermitage area late Thursday night.

Police say two men were in a standoff. The suspect came to the "new boyfriend's" house, because he's dating his ex-girlfriend. But, according to an affidavit, the suspect apparently shot the other man because he was beating his ex-girlfriend.

The old boyfriend shot the new guy, hitting him in the upper leg, police said.

Officers followed the shooter's car, while the victim went to Vanderbilt.

Police said they recovered a gun from the suspect's car.

The suspect was later identified as Kyler Anderson. Anderson is charged with attempted homicide, reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, aggravated burglary, evading arrest in a vehicle and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The affidavit said Anderson was with another man, whom he stole a gun from and held at gunpoint during the standoff so he wouldn't interfere.
