Man charged with DUI after going 64 in a 30 MPH zone down Broadway, affidavit says
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) —
Metro police said a man was charged after speeding down Broadway -- going 64 MPH in a 30 MPH zone.
Jeremy Koerber, 22, is charged with DUI and being in possession of a gun while under the influence after a short car chase early Thursday morning.
A Metro Police affidavit said an officer saw the speeding car and turned on his lights, but the driver didn't stop. The vehicle continued to drive on 12th Avenue and turned onto George L. Davis Boulevard before ultimately pulling over.
The officer said he noticed Koerber has blood shot eyes, slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol was coming from the vehicle. Koerber told police he “pulled over once he saw the emergency lights,” the affidavit said.
Officers say Koerber consented to a breath test and registered a .148 BAC, nearly double the legal limit.
Koerber also told police he had a handgun in the trunk of his vehicle. Police said they found the gun with a magazine loaded, but no round in the chamber.
Online records show Koerber was released from Metro Jail later Thursday morning.
