Man arrested after overnight standoff in South Nashville
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) —
An hours long standoff with Metro police and SWAT ends with one man in custody Thursday morning.
Metro Dispatchers say the incident began Wednesday night, when they received a call around 10:30 p.m. about a domestic incident at a home near the intersection of Jeffrey Drive and Eisenhower Drive.
Charles Widener, Metro Nashville Police Department, says a man inside the home allegedly strangled and assaulted both his daughter and girlfriend.
Officers responding to the scene say the man refused to come out. Police say shortly after, SWAT Teams were called out to the scene because investigators found out the man had guns inside the home.
Metro police say around 3:15 a.m., the man finally surrendered himself. This morning, he is charged with domestic assault and strangulation.
The man's identity has yet to be released, and his daughter and girlfriend are expected to be okay.
