Lebanon Schools closed Friday after email threat received, all-clear given

UPDATE:

The scene has been cleared after a Lebanon school principal received a threat early Friday morning.

Lebanon Special School District Superintendent Scott Benson told FOX 17 News that a threat was sent to the the principal of Winfree Bryant Middle School about 6 a.m.

An alert and voicemail were sent to parents and the district put a news release on their website at 6:30 a.m. Buses were turned around at 6 a.m. and took students back home.

Law enforcement agencies said nothing was found and that scene was cleared at 9: 25 a.m.

Right now, agencies are working to track an IP address to find the source of the threat.

Wilson County Schools remain open and say there is no threat to schools in their district.

"There have been multiple rumors going around social media and by word of mouth about a lockdown at Mt. Juliet High School. MJHS was never placed in lockdown at any point during the day. SRO’s are present and remaining vigilant for the safety of all students and staff." - Wilson County Sheriff's Office

The Lebanon Special School District is closed Friday due to a threat.

The schools said in a voicemail to parents that the threat is unconfirmed, but they feel closing for the day is the best option. Buses are being turned around and police said an investigation is under way.

"We have received an unconfirmed threat against our school system, so we feel it is in the best interest of our students and staff to close school today, February 2nd. Buses are currently being turned around to drop students back at their homes." - Lebanon Special School District

There's no word right now what type of threat was made, but officers confirmed it was made through an email.

Wilson County Schools said they are not affected by the threat and school is in session.
