Kentucky police officer killed in the line of duty
PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WCHS/WVAH) -- A Pikeville Kentucky police officer has been shot and killed in the line of duty.
Officer Scotty Hamilton was a 12-year veteran and joined the Pikeville Police Department in 2006.
According to our news partner EKB-TV, Hamilton and a Kentucky State Trooper were conducting an investigation in the Hurricane Creek area of Pike County when he was shot and killed around 11:30 Tuesday night.
A news release from the Pikeville Public Safety Commissioner says Kentucky State Police is handling the case as a murder investigation.
