Investigation ongoing after adult human remains found in Dickson County water tank
DICKSON, Tenn. (WZTV) —
The investigation is ongoing after human remains were found in a water tank in Dickson County.
The adult remains were found just before noon on Friday. It's still not clear right now if the remains are those of a male or female.
The Dickson County Sheriff's Office said a crew clearing the way for the Dickson Electric System near Rock Springs Road found an open cistern, a type of water tank, open on the site of an old home between Charlotte and Cumberland Furnace.
The adult remains were found inside the cistern. The sheriff's office and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation were both called to investigate.
Members of the Dickson Fire Department's rescue team helped recover the skeletal remains and they have since been taken to a medical examiner's office in Nashville.
The sheriff's office said detectives are continuing to look into missing person's cases from the area. Although an age hasn't been released, TBI said they believe the remains are those of an adult.
Anyone with information should call TBI.
