Confederate memorial at Tennessee cemetery vandalized
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) - Police are investigating vandalism at a Confederate memorial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
A large monument honoring Confederate Col. Adolphus Heiman and others was found defaced with anti-Confederate statements. Metro Nashville Police say the vandalism was reported Jan. 31 and the defacing took place the previous night.
Among the words painted on the memorial are "dismantle white supremacy," "B.L.M.," "Antifa" and "KKK."
Police say the cemetery does not have any security cameras and there are currently no leads at this time.
Mt. Olivet Cemetery is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It is located at 1101 Lebanon Pike in Nashville.
