Coffee County deputies investigating claim of clown attacking a juvenile in Summitville
COFFEE COUNTY, Tenn.--The Coffee County Sheriff's Office reports they are investigating a claim that a clown attacked a juvenile in the Summitville area of the county.
Police say the call came in on Monday night "concerning someone dressed in a red hoodie and a clown mask." The juvenile told police he "swung at the clown and was cut" by what the juvenile says was a knife.
Deputies responded to the scene and state on their Facebook page a search was conducted, "but no clown was found."
The department says they will check all reports to prove or disprove the claims. Sheriff Steve Graves says “People in Tennessee carry guns and somebody jumping out and scarring someone is subject to getting shot.”
Graves also warned against filing false reports of 'clown incidents' in the wake of multiple reports being investigated around the country. Sheriff Graves is also asking residents to think twice about wearing clown masks. “Everyone should avoid wearing any type of mask or dressing up like a clown," Graves stated.
