Son facing murder charges after dad's deadly shooting in Bordeaux home

Metro Nashville Police said a Bordeaux man died overnight in the hospital after officer said he was shot by his son in late July.

According to MNPD, 15-year-old Scottie Bailey Jr. is expected to be charged with the murder of his father, 46-year-old Scottie Bailey Sr.

On July 23, police found Scottie Bailey Sr. in the bedroom of his Cocoa Drive home with a gunshot wound to the forehead.

Scottie Bailey Jr. called police around 10 p.m. that night, but police said he changed his story throughout the night.

Police determined Bailey Jr. went in his dad's room to look at the gun in his dresser and accidentally shot his dad in the forehead.

After the shooting, police said Bailey Jr. showered, got dressed, cleaned his room and went to visit a friend in Antioch. Police estimate he waited to call authorities for more than three hours.

Officers found the pistol he used inside a vehicle.

The MNPD said Bailey Jr.'s attempted murder charge is expected to be changed to a criminal homicide charge in Juvenile court.
