Nashville police identify 23-year-old shot to death in public housing area
NASHVILLE, Tenn. —
UPDATE: Metro Police have identified a young man killed on University Court late Sunday night.
Maxime R. Assem, 23, was shot and killed in the Napier-Sudekum public housing area, police said.
Police said Assem parked his car along University Court and walked toward some residential buildings. Police said a shot time later, Assem, who was accompanied by unidentified people, went back to the car where he was shot.
Assem was found wounded in the street and later died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The motive for the killing remains under investigation.

Metro police responded to a shooting on University Court at Carroll Street just before 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
Upon arrival, officers said found the victim laying face down in the street.
The victim, a 23-year-old black male, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died from possibly two gunshot wounds.
