$1.5 million in heroin seized from tractor-trailer during traffic stop on I-24
EDDYVILLE, Ky. (WZTV) - About 33 pounds of heroin, valued at $1.5 million, was seized during a traffic stop on I-24.
Kentucky State Police said officers stopped a tractor-trailer on I-24 in Lyon County for commercial vehicle inspection purposes. During the stop, officers found a small amount of heroin, but further investigation of the tractor-trailer led to the discovery of 15 kilos, or 33 pounds, of heroin valued at $1.5 million.
Driver Roberto Orozco, 29, of West Valley, Utah, and passenger Alberto Leal-Martinez, 50, of Magna, Utah, were both arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking in heroin, a Class B felony.
Both suspects are lodged in Caldwell County Jail.
