Updated: Saturday, June 7 2014, 03:24 PM CDT
This could be the worst first date in history.
The news of a French citizen of North African origins getting buried alive by a Moroccan-Lover in Fez sparked huge controversy and misunderstanding among western media.
In fact, it all started when Mina El Houari, a 25-year-old french citizen, who lives in Cadenet, France decided to travel to Fez, Morocco to meet her Moroccan lover for the first time, a man she met on the Internet.
Mina El Houari happened to be suffering from diabetes, and apparently her lover wasn’t aware of the situation.
During their first meeting, the man, who has not been named, has seen Mina keeling over and inexplicably collapsing in front of him.
The scene was enough for the man to think she passed away.
Believing she had dropped dead, the man buried the back-then alive 25 year-old Mina in his back-yard.
He told the police he was in such a rush and stress that he failed to realize Mina was still breathing.
The man kept quite about the tragedy.
Not hearing from Mina, her relatives traveled for fez to search for her and filed a missing persons report in Morocco.
The authorities had probably accessed the man’s online account on social media and were able to identify him before raiding his house.
At the scene, they found muddy trousers and a shovel before discovering the decomposing body.
The man, who has not been named, confessed he buried Mina thinking she passed away.
He has been charged with involuntary manslaughter by the Moroccan authorities.
