Warren County High School Placed on Lockdown After Student Found With Gun in Lock Box

UPDATE (1:11pm): Warren County Sheriff Chief Investigator Marc Martin has confirmed that a 17 year old Warren County High School Junior has been charged with Illegal Possession of a Weapon on school grounds. The student was detained after two other students told a SRO officer about the gun. Martin says the student tried hiding the gun, but police found the loaded 22-cailber handgun in an unlocked wooden box in one of the school's locker rooms. The school was locked down during the search, but is open now. Martin says the student is in state custody pending his court date on Monday. He says investigators are still trying to determine why the student brought the loaded weapon to school.
UPDATE (12:33pm): Warren County High School in McMinnville is open again after being locked down this morning following reports of a student with a gun. School spokesman Bobby Cox says police brought the student in question into the office while other officers searched the school. Police found a locked box which contained a 22 caliber handgun belonging to the student being questioned. Police continue their investigation. Cox says locking down a school is normal procedure under such circumstances. He says he appreciates the two students who told the school's SRO officer about the gun. The student has been arrested.
EARLIER: Warren County High School is currently on lock down. Fox 17 spoke to an employee at the school who stated they were told to lock the doors to the room. Radio station WBMC in McMinnville posted to their website police are investigating a threat by a student and are investigating. According to the station:
"Police Chief Bryan Denton said an SRO officer received information of a possible threat. The student behind the alleged threat is being questioned. The nature of the possible threat was not released. Chief Denton said the lockdown is standard procedure whenever a threat is suspected. He said all students are safe."
