Ally Cameron of Murfreesboro battled back from neuroblastoma and won. After serving as the 2008 St. Jude Dream Home honoree, the 5th grader is now celebrating 9 years cancer free! She likes softball, soccer, basketball, swimming, sewing and tennis.
Neuroblastoma is cancer of the nerve tissue. It attacked Ally's adrenal glands, neck, chest, spinal cord and hip. She was stage 4 at just one year old and the outlook was grim.
Her dad, Jon Cameron, explains how rare her case was, "It was the only case at St. Jude they had had at that time where it was on both adrenal glands and only the 5th they could find in the world documented."
Pioneering research that goes on every day at St. Jude saved Ally's life.
The 2008 Dream Home was built and donated in Ally's honor bringing in a million and a half dollars for more research at St. Jude to save even more children.
Her dad has a license plate that reads ALY1. He credits St. Jude for that.
