BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- A Spring Hill man is shot and killed at a Kentucky welcome center before the shooter turns the gun on himself.
At just before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, a man walked up to a car parked at the Simpson County rest area and opened fire on the driver, according to the Kentucky Sate Police's preliminary report. Witnesses say the shooter then turned the gun on himself.
The driver killed is identified as 40-year-old Jamie Plymel.
The shooter died from his injuries at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. His name has not been released.
The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time. A trooper says the shooting at the welcome center along Interstate 65 appears to have been random and there's no apparent connection between Plymel and the shooter, according to the Associated Press.
The investigation is ongoing.
