REPORT: VUMC, Monroe Carell Jr. Among 'Best Hospitals'

NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- U.S. News and World Report has released their 2014-2015 best adult hospitals and best children's hospitals rankings. Rankings were determined based on data from nearly 5,000 hospitals and survey results from more than 9,500 physicians. Of those, only 144 hospitals were nationally ranked.
Vanderbilt University Medical Hospital was ranked as the top hospital in the state and the Nashville Metro area. Among specialties, they were ranked nationally in six categories: 10th in Nephrology (Kidney care), 12th in Urology, 14th in Ear/Nose/Throat, 18th in Pulmonology, 36th in Neurology & Neurosurgery and 39th in Cancer treatment.
For Pediatric specialties, Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital was one of 89 facilities ranked in at least one of 10 specialties in the "Best of" categories. The hospital actually totaled nine of ten rankings specialties. Those were: 6th in Pediatrics Urology, 15th in Pediatric Cancer, 17th in Cardiology & Heart Surgery, 25th in Pulmonology, 31st in Diabetes & Endocrinology, 40th in both Gastro & GI Surgery and Nephrology, 42nd in Neurology & Neurosurgery and 45th in Neonatology.
