Glenn Funk, who was sworn in Thursday as Davidson County's new district attorney, fired five attorneys on Friday, his first day on the job, District Attorney's Office spokeswoman Dorinda Carter confirmed to FOX 17.
They are Sarah Davis, Sarah Beth Myers, Hugh Ammerman, Karen Fentress and Earnie Hickerson.
Funk has already filled four of the positions with attorneys (pictured above in clockwise order left of Funk) Derry Harper, Ed Ryan, Rebecca Miller Warfield and Vince Wyatt.
Rob McGuire, who was endorsed by the previous district attorney but did not win the election, said four of the five attorneys who were fired (Ammerman, Davis, Myers and Fentress) supported him in the election.
He told FOX 17 he found the firings troubling.
"These are very experienced prosecutors whose commitment to justice, particularly domestic violence, is unquestioned," he said. "They are talented, award winning prosecutors who have hundreds of victims who can testify to their commitment. The fact that they were dismissed with no reason given and the fact that they supported me in the election makes this very troubling."
