NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The man who admitted to stealing more than $100,000 from Disabled American Veterans was sentenced to 10 years in prison Friday.
Thomas Keller, the organization's former treasurer pled guilty to the crime in April.
Investigators say instead of using DAV's funds to pay bills and taxes, Keller instead wrote himself 127 checks, adding up to more than $139,000.
Investigators say he also used the DAV accounts to pay personal bills and wrote his wife $5,500 in checks.
This type of case generally carries an 8-12 year sentence.
