NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A family in Old Hickory says someone is leaving deadly pesticides in their yard on purpose.
Neighbors say so far, 30 ducks, two raccoons, a possum, and 10 different kinds of birds have all turned up dead in the same area.
The TWRA said the animals died after eating corn laced with the toxic pesticide Sufuran.
On Wednesday, Michelle Desirey said she found even more corn in her yard, which prompted the Tennessee Department of Agriculture to take over the investigation.
Desirey says investigators told her to keep her grandkids and pets away from the corn.
"It’s scary,” Desirey said. “It's dangerous. Maybe it killed our ducks but will it harm us?”
The Ag department says while this case is still under investigation, if someone is purposefully doing harming the animals, they could be charged with misusing a pesticide to cause harm, a Class A misdemeanor punishable by a fine or up to 30 days in jail.
