BREAKING: John Seigenthaler, Sr. Dies at 86

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Sad news into our newsroom. A pioneer in Nashville media has passed away. John Seigenthaler, Sr. died. The Seigenthaler name is synonymous with Nashville and a long list of accomplishments. At the top: longtime editor, publisher and CEO of the Tennessean. Seigenthaler was a very powerful political figure and defender of First Amendment rights. In the early 60's, Seigenthaler worked for Robert Kennedy. Seigenthaler retired in 1991, but stayed active in local and state civic groups. He recently helped organize a celebration for Metro's 50th year as a merged government. The 86 year old is survived by his son John Michael and wife Dolores. We will have CONTINUING COVERAGE of Seigenthaler's life and legacy on FOX17 NEWS and online.
