A warning to parents: be careful what you post online, especially when it comes to your children.
Brad Paisley and his wife recently fell victim to an elaborate hoax, involving a woman who claimed her daughter was dying of cancer.
The woman got in contact with Paisley's wife Kimberly last fall, saying she didn't want anything from the star. She said all she wanted was for her to spread the word about her daughter.
Paisley got in contact with the woman, who shared photos of her supposed daughter. The exchanged e-mails, texts and phone calls.
Brad Paisley even sung to the girl one night over the phone.
The hoax unraveled when the woman said her daughter died. The Paisley's asked for an address to send flowers, but the woman refused.
It was only after that, they found out the pictures they had seen were of someone else's sick child. The woman had found those photos online and used them to make her lies seem real.
The Paisley's are speaking out about it, in hopes of reminding parents what can happen if their pictures are open to the public.
