Saving You Money: School Supplies
I'm Saving You Money on something many of us parents are doing right now--- back to school shopping. With longer supply lists and more demand for electronics, the National Retail Federation says families will spend an average of $670 dollars. That's up five percent from last year.
Let's start with electronics. One way to save is by buying refurbished tablets and laptops. They're like new and come with a one year warranty at half the cost. I've shown you Best Buy's refurbished products in the past. Retailers like Apple and Wal -Mart offer the same.
When it comes to school supplies, Kiplinger.com recommends shopping off the beaten path. Editor Cameron Huddleston says, "I know you might think the best place to get your school supplies is at the Dollar Store. Everything's a dollar right, but you can actually get better deals at office supply stores like Staples where they sell notebooks and folders for 15 to 30 cents. So, you can really stock up there and spend less."
Also, don't forget to shop your home first. You can usually get another year out of plastic pencil boxes, scissors, even markers, folders, crayons and backpacks.
