SAVING YOU MONEY-- Halloween Costumes

Stacy Case
Antioch

The average person spends $30 on a Halloween costume.  That's a scary
price especially when you pile on candy and everything else that comes
with the holiday.
I found costumes for as low as $2.99 at
Goodwill stores across the Midstate. Goodwill charges about a fifth of
what you'd pay retail.  Frankenstein and Dorothy costumes at Goodwill
for example were $2.99 to $3.99.  I checked a popular local retailer and
those same two costumes were each $29.99.
   Consignment shops and
sales are another GREAT way to save on costumes. Their prices run $4.99
to $9.99.  Many are still in the package and well taken care of.
   Other great ways to save?
Costume swap with friends and family or  check Freecycle and
Craigslist for other low cost options.
   One final money saving
idea?  Download the Shop Savvy app or any barcode scanner app on your
smartphone if you're planning to shop retail.  You can compare prices on
costumes anywhere while you shop.
