Hell's Kitchen overrun with ninjas in new Netflix 'Daredevil' trailer

As promised at the end of the previous trailer, a new trailer for the second season of the Netflix "Marvel's Daredevil" original series premiered Thursday.

It appears that Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) will be dealing with more than just the Punisher (Jon Bernthal) in the 13 episodes that will be released on March 18. There will also be ninjas. Lots of ninjas.

The new material does carry on the theme of exploring the unintended consequences of blind lawyer Murdock's decision to fight crime as Daredevil.

In the trailer, ex-girlfriend Elektra (Elodie Yung) explains to Murdock that the yakuza is taking over crime in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood after he defeated the Kingpin in the first season.

"If we do this, nobody dies," Murdock says when he agrees to help her fight them.

Action and explosions ensue. The viewers are introduced to the evil ninjas known as the Hand, who have some sort of nefarious plan involving a "rising."

"The battle has begun, Matthew," Elektra says. "There is nothing we can do but fight."

We also get brief glimpses of Elden Henson as Murdock's legal partner Foggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll as assistant Karen Page, and Rosario Dawson as nurse Claire Temple.

"Daredevil" is the first of four Netflix original series being produced by Marvel. The second, "Jessica Jones," premiered last fall with a second season expected later this year. Still to come are "Luke Cage" and "Iron Fist," and eventually a "Defenders" series that brings all of the characters together.

Also on Thursday, Entertainment Weekly reported that actor Finn Jones has been cast as Iron Fist. Jones plays Ser Loras Tyrell on HBO's "Game of Thrones." "Dexter" writer Scott Buck has been named as showrunner for "Iron Fist," but no premiere date has been announced.
