LOS ANGELES, Cali.--The newest show on Fox 17 is taking viewers back to the 1990's. Christopher Meloni stars as the title character in "Surviving Jack." Fox 17's Mikayla Lewis sat down with Meloni and the rest of the cast in Los Angeles earlier this year to find out what viewers can expect.

Set in the 90's, "Surviving Jack" follows Jack Dunlevy, an ex-military, tough love guy. Meloni says the setting is key for the coming of age comedy, in a time before the internet.

Christopher Meloni says, " Electronics got in the way of the family connective tissue. "

Meloni's character is trying to take care of his two teenage kids, after his wife, decides to go to law school (played by Rachael Harris).

Christopher Meloni says, "The guy is authentically himself.  I think there is a bit of that lacking in these sorts of comedies."

Jack's son, Frankie (Connor Buckley) is also at the center of it all, as a high school freshman facing teenage angst.

Rachael Harris says, " I think the Hallmark of any good show is if you are talking about it after you see it. I think it will bring up conversations like well 'I remember when I was a kid, I did this.'"

Claudia Lee plays Jack's daughter, Rachel a 17-year-old who Jack finds hard to understand.

Lee said, "It was so realistic and I just love the relationships that were going on between the mother, daughter, and Jack."

Tune in to see if you can Survive Jack on Thursdays nights at 8:30 on Fox 17.
