NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Country music star Darius Rucker motivated Pearl Cohn Entertainment Magnet High School students Wednesday.
The school teaches kids you don't have to be in the limelight to make a career out of music.
"Music is a business and there's a lot of jobs in the music industry and it's great to see Nashville supporting that," Rucker said.
Rucker also helped make sure the students don't lose sight of their goals.
“One in four children has an undiagnosed vision problem that can affect their ability to learn,” said Francesca Puglisi, spokesperson for Transitions Optical.
The company partnered with Rucker to give some 200 students free vision exams, to make sure bad eyesight doesn't get in the way of good grades.
“That's really important early on,” Puglisi said. “I mean, if you see behavioral problems and other problems with kids it's just because they can't see, they can't see the board.”
"They get their glasses right there on the spot and it's a really cool thing to see them get it and see how clear the day is, so I’m really proud to be a part of that,” Rucker said.
