LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) --The Rev. Louis Coleman, a civil rights activist and head of the Justice Resource Center, has died. He was 64.

Members of the center said at a press conference that Coleman suffered from several seizures and was brought to a local hospital for treatment before dying Saturday.

Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson issued a statement shortly after Coleman's death, calling him a "tireless fighter and a voice for those without a voice."

Survivors include his wife, three children, a sister and several grandchildren.

Coleman was inducted into the Kentucky Civil Rights Hall of Fame in 2000 and credited with being instrumental in winning a lawsuit challenging the lack of black coaches in Kentucky high school sports.
