Mobile death blamed on swine flu
March 19, 2010 17:40 EDT

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) -- The Mobile County Health Department says the Feb. 27 death of a 6-year-old boy is being attributed to swine flu.

Health officials say the death brings the number of H1N1 flu fatalities among Mobile County residents to four. The first occurred in October 2009.

Dr. Bernard H. Eichold II, the county's health officer, says H1N1 influenza continues to be the dominant flu virus circulating in Mobile County.

Eichold says it's not too late to be vaccinated.

The Health Department is offering free vaccinations to protect against H1N1 flu Mondays through Fridays at its 251 N. Bayou St. facility. The hours are 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., and appointments are not needed.
