NASHVILLE, Tenn.--A 28-year-old semi-truck driver has been charged with statutory rape of a 16-year-old who is now six months pregnant with his child.

According to the arrest affidavit for Thomas Hemby, the victim and her mother reported Hemby and the teen had consensual sex in March of 2016 after meeting two years ago through a friend. The victim told police Hemby knew her age but continued to communicate with the teen via text message and phone until meeting at a park in March.

The affidavit states Hemby drove his semi-truck to Peay Park in Goodlettsville in March and the two talked for a while before "crawling in the back" and having consensual sex. The affidavit states that was the only time the act took place.

Hemby was booked into the Davidson County Jail on Tuesday and is being held on $75,000 bond.
