Nashville woman unsuccessfully hides uncapped syringe in crotch during arrest
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Metro Nashville Police say a woman under arrest for criminal impersonation tried to hide a syringe under a patrol car seat and was found with another uncapped syringe inside her body.
According to police, it all started after a traffic stop by police on S. 7th Street late last month. Police say a Chevy Trailblazer was pulled over for an equipment violation. The driver was charged for the violation, but the passenger, 34-year-old Jessica Houchin gave police a fake name out of fear she had warrants out for her arrest.
Police ultimately revealed her true identity and Houchin was placed in the back of the patrol car. Police say while waiting for a female officer to arrive on-scene and conduct a pat-down, Houchin tried to hide a syringe under the seat of the patrol vehicle. When she was taken out of the cruiser, a "white powdery substance" was observed on the seat. Police began searching Houchin and say she attempted to dump two rolled up dollar bills from her bra, one containing heroin and one with cocaine out of her bra.
As the search continued, police say Houchin attempted to grab at her crotch. Houchin produced a plastic baggie with .5 grams of heroin from her underwear. She then "retrieved another syringe from her vagina," which was uncapped. Houchin then told police she believed it "had stuck her."
Houchin was then transported to the hospital for treatment. Police say they found more heroin inside her purse and $300 in various denominations. The total weight of drugs found on the woman was 1.2 grams of heroin, and .3 grams of cocaine.
Houchin was charged with criminal impersonation, possession, and tampering with evidence.
