Nashville man arrested for string of Sunday robberies
NASHVILLE, Tenn.--A 33-year-old Nashville man was arrested on Monday after allegedly robbing a woman in a Walmart parking lot.
According to the arrest affidavit for Jonathan Rigsby, the woman was loading her car at the Walmart located on 4040 Nolensville Pike on Sunday around 3pm when Rigsby approached her and pretended to have a gun in his pocket. Rigsby allegedly demanded the woman's purse and then ran to a red Pontiac which fled the scene.
Police say it was one of a series of three robberies which took place on Sunday between 2:57pm-3:50pm. The vehicle and suspect description were all the same according to witnesses and all took place in the area of Nolensville Pike and Harding Place.
The next day, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a Mazda which had a brake light out. The officer took the IDs of the three occupants, one of whom happened to be Rigsby. The officer says while Rigsby was getting his ID, the officer noticed a license belonging to a blonde woman. The officer had all the occupants exit the car and conducted a search of the vehicle, finding a marijuana roach and cocaine rock. Officers also found two credit cards with the same name as the blonde woman's license Rigsby had in his possession.
Police traced the cards back to one of the robbery victims and Rigsby was arrested for the crimes. Police say Rigsby admitted to the series of robberies.
