LOBSTER DAY

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) -- Happy Lobster Day! Not today, but how about Sept. 25? U.S. senators from New England are introducing a resolution to designate Sept. 25, 2015, as National Lobster Day. Maine's Angus King and Susan Collins say the crustacean deserves some respect. They say thousands of families depend on the lobster industry to make a living. They also note that American lobsters are growing in popularity as a "global delicacy."

DOLPHIN EXCHANGE

KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii (AP) -- Three young dolphins could soon be flying. Dolphin Quest is asking for permission to transport the creatures. Dolphin Quest allows tourists to swim with dolphins in lagoons at resorts on Oahu and Hawaii Island. The male dolphins would be moved between the resorts. Dolphin Quest says the measure would help ensure genetic diversity in its breeding program. West Hawaii Today reports the state Board of Agriculture will consider the request next week.

FAN'S SECOND GAME

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- It's been quite a stretch between games for Pirates fan Esther McNeal. She's only seen one game in person and that was more than 50 years ago. She's followed the Pirates on radio and TV for most of her 93 years. So, granddaughter Cindy Shtur arranged a recent trip to PNC Park to watch the Pirates take on the Washington Nationals. McNeal tells the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette she got her hair done for the game and slept all night on her back to keep it looking just right. To make the day even better, the Pirates beat the Nationals, 3-1.

LATE MAIL

HARRISON, Ark. (AP) -- The check really was in the mail. Barbara Fraizer of Harrison, Arkansas, says she received a letter earlier this month with a postal money order for $200. Then she noticed the postmark. The letter was mailed about 17 years ago. Fraizer says she didn't believe it years ago when the sender said he had mailed her a check. She tells the Harrison Daily Times she yelled a lot at the time. By the way, that money order was still good and Fraizer cashed it.
